Geotechnical Estimator
Great opportunity for someone who is self motivated, loves figures and is happy to work remotely. This person will lead the estimation process for nearshore geotechnical engineering projects, working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop accurate and detailed cost estimates. A strong understanding of geotechnical drilling, sampling and CPT techniques and industry pricing is important for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for nearshore geotechnical projects.
- Bid Analysis: Review project specifications, drawings, and reports to assess material, equipment, labour, and time requirements.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks related to ground conditions, contract requirements and collaborate on cost-effective solutions to mitigate them.
- Collaboration: Work with the Nearshore Manager and project management teams to ensure estimates are in line with project goals and technical requirements.
- Vendor and Supplier Engagement: Source and obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for competitive pricing.
- Bid Preparation: Support the preparation of proposals and bid packages, ensuring estimates are accurate and comprehensive.
- Client Interaction: Participate in client meetings to present estimates and project costs, addressing concerns and ensuring alignment on budgets.
- Market Research: Stay updated on industry pricing trends and advancements in geotechnical technologies to provide current and competitive estimates.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of estimates, project bids, and revisions to ensure transparency and accountability.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, construction, or estimating, with a focus on cost estimation.
- Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of geotechnical engineering principles.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with standard Microsoft tools, such as proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and present information clearly.
